Adventure Aquarium is located in Camden, NJ. It's a quick Septa ride from 16th and Locust Street to Camden Broadway/City Hall stop. It's $2.80 round trip for an adult Septa ticket and children under 5 are free. Our toddler loved riding the train to the aquarium. We had a one year membership that allowed us to enjoy cold months and rainy days indoors. If you live in Center City, the membership is definitely worth it. We loved the close encounters with the hippos, penguins and stingrays. The Christmas Special at the aquarium is neat too! The only downside of this aquarium is the transportation. If you decide to take Septa, there's no elevator at the Camden Broadway/City Hall stop. Either you carry your stroller up 2 flights of stairs, hope that someone gets off with you or just carry your child in your favorite carrier. If you decide to take your car, parking is $10 each time. Membership only gets you $5 off and it's not free.
They've also made a soft playground outside for kids under 42 inches. When aquarium staff are there to enforce the height max, it's a safe place to play with a canopy that covers the majority of the play area. When aquarium staff aren't present, you need to be careful as some parents and school teachers allow their beyond the height limit kids to run and jump around which is a bit scary around the littles.
